Metroid Prime was the new installment of the famous Nintendo game. We decided to go with an adapted replica of the first-person navigation helmet the heroine used and is displayed as interface on the game. We've designed this incredible online game where people would at first encounter a black space with data floating on it. As they opened up each data piece and interacted further, they could analyze it with the tools available or just read away and find further clues to try to discover the line that was holding this storyline together. It was a fantastic concept where all would unfold from simple elements and clue into what to do next. A real strategic concept.

Even though we actually strived to achieve this goal, the big problem was the online experience was a bit hard to interact with until the end. So hard in fact that after getting all the green lights from Nintendo America on the fully functional and ready site, Nintendo Japan pulled the plug for fear that people would be totally lost, which was one of the starting desirable outcomes. For some reason this concept seemed risqué for them a few months later.
The site was launched containing only 10% of the originally intended features. |
